I don’t have children. I remind you of this because it explains why I don’t often experience the typical things parents know as being usual. For example, child-free people have to make special trips to see monkeys at the zoo, as they don’t have the yearly family membership. Child-free people miss most animated films. I mean, I’ve still never seen “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.”

Anyhoo, when Mister and I were in Scottsdale, Arizona, we and our friends went to Butterfly Wonderland and it was awesome!

Butterfly Wonderland comes in at 10,000 square feet and is the largest butterfly pavilion in America. The Conservatory was, without a doubt, my favorite space. Butterflies were everywhere! So many of them were enamored with Mister’s shorts, they were competing for landing space.

I know they have over 3 dozen varieties, but I never did pinpoint an exact number. Didn’t matter though, as I couldn’t keep up with the little flitterers!

We also saw a desert scorpion…

And a tarantula…

Those critters didn’t make me nearly as happy as the butterflies did.

In the Butterfly Emergence Gallery, one can view various stages of metamorphosis. At first, I thought this was just some fake display. Then we all witnessed a butterfly actually emerging from its cocoon. It was fantastic!

If you find yourself near Scottsdale, try to see Butterfly Wonderland (and show your AAA Card for a discount, yo). It was so worth it. I know that if I find myself in the area again, I’ll do my best to go back. Butterflies rule!
