This is the phone cover from my old smart phone. It was the first non-flip phone I had. And it served me well. Right up until it didn’t.

At some point it decided to go glitchy. I never knew just what it might do, and was often surprised. For example, one day the phone was on the table before me and it up and dialed a number. On speaker. Now, when I picked it up to see what the frig was going on, the screen showed the phone was dialing someone in my contact list. I decided to let it ring on, as I hadn’t talked to that person in a while. When a strange voice answered, I asked for my friend. Turns out my phone had dialed a random number and reached some guy at a boat store (yes – a boat store). It did something similar a few other times, too.

Then last week I was sitting at a stop, waiting for the bus. I checked my phone for the time and it was 5:03. I hung out a while longer, looking at the scenery. At some point it occurred to me that the 5:09 bus must surely be late. I again pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 5:01. 5:01! The one time my phone decided to do something amazing – stop/reverse time – it did it at the flippin’ bus stop. The one place I didn’t wish to spend extra time.

Anyhoo, as of this weekend, the old phone is gone. And I’m learning to live with a shiny, new phone. I sincerely hope there’s no ghost in this machine. Word.
