It’s Record Store Day, y’all – internationally. Always on the 3rd Saturday of April, this day touches a soft spot in my heart.

Back in my yute, I worked in a record store and it may have been the greatest job ever. My friends Lance, Sara and Ron meant so much to me during those days. I still think of them – often – and wonder about their present-day lives. It’s almost enough to cause a girl to join the Book of Face. Almost, but not quite. So there.

Anyhoo, when Record Store Day rolls around each year, I get the warm and fuzzies. And I truly support the idea behind it: go out and give a little business to your local record seller. I know it can be hard to find an honest-to-goodness brick-and-mortar record store, but it’s worth it. Trust me. If you venture out today, to a record shop, you’ll be transported back to a time when you used to do that on a regular basis. And it will feel good. Really.

I think we’re supposed to be shopping at record stores today in order to support those businesses. But perhaps the greatest benefit is the gift we give ourselves when perusing the stacks. I’m already smiling…
