A lot of cities offer lovely services to their residents. Los Angeles is no exception. When Mister told me he’d heard we could get free compost, I was all ears. After a bit of online research, I knew where to go.

That’s how I found myself standing before a giant mound of black gold in Griffith Park. It’s hard to tell from the above photo, but the compost heap was about up to my elbows. (The free mulch piles in the back ground were even higher.) As Mister and I will be planting tomatoes soon, this compost will be a welcome addition to our soil. And it’s free! I mean, come on!

I didn’t take more than the bin you see in my trunk, and that will suit our purposes just fine. But it’s still there – for anyone in town. And I flippin’ love taking advantage of all my city has to offer. Next up: Tomatomania!
