When Mister said we should go to a movie, I said okay. For some reason it never occurred to me to ask what movie he wanted to see. I just went along for the ride. What can I say? I’m a go-er.

We were walking through the lobby of the movie theater when it dawned on me to inquire what we were seeing. Mister led me toward the “Chef” showing and I smiled. I was ready.

I’m a food dork, y’all. So when I see a film about food – I’m a happy gal. “Chef” did not disappoint me, and yes, I was very happy. The story is sweet and light, and I truly enjoyed it and the actors. Sofia Vergara was so good, as I watched her on the big screen I never once saw her small screen character (Gloria on TV’s “Modern Family”). John Leguizamo’s character is funny, loyal and a good friend. Young actor Emjay Anthony plays the son of Jon Favreau’s lead, and he does it so well I absolutely adored the kid.

I could tell you about other great performances – Dustin Hoffman’s, Bobby Cannavale’s, Robert Downey Jr.’s – but I’d much rather talk about the food. Oh! The Food! This is food porn, to be sure. Mister was enjoying the food porn so much, I almost had to ask him to leave the theater and take his moaning outside.

Again, it’s a light film. It’s eye-candy. It’s lovely. I really enjoyed it. It left me feeling warm and happy. It also left me feeling hungry.

So once we exited the theater, we headed over to Hollywood’s The Hart and The Hunter. Mister and I feasted on Southern-Style Biscuits with Pimiento Cheese, Gulf Blue Crab Claws, Creamy Grits and Hanger Steak. I do believe some Frozen Mississippi Mud Pie was involved, too. After devouring so much beautiful food with our eyes during “Chef,” it was mighty fulfilling to devour so much beautiful food with our mouths.

This isn’t a movie review, and I don’t pretend it is. I just wanted to share how much I enjoyed seeing a movie that left me feeling good and smiley. Can’t say that about too many movies. Mighty glad I saw this one.
