Over the weekend my friend Nicole and I went to the Hello Kitty exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles. Located in the Little Tokyo section of town, the museum is just lovely and I can’t believe it has taken me this long to visit.

I had no idea what to expect, but that being said, I was still blown away. The exhibit featured everything from the coin purse that started it all in 1974 to a recent gi-normous sculpture.

In between, we saw about a jillion other items, such as a shredder…

Feminine napkins (for reals)…

A bowling ball…

And various factoids…

Some of the items shown were downright nuts. Like these “personal massagers”…

When all was said and done, we were grinning from ear-to-ear and happy as denuded larks in a thistle patch.

I’m so glad Nicole and I decided to let our inner children play for an afternoon. And I’m not gonna kid ya – I may have to get myself some Hello Kitty shoes.

Word. I mean Meow.
