I am presently hooked on “All About That Bass” – a song by Meghan Trainor that is about as catchy as they come. Released this summer, the song’s lyrics promote body acceptance and positive body imaging. When I first heard it, I recognized it as being an earworm and sure enough – it stayed with me. When I finally listened to the lyrics, I was smitten.
If you’ve heard it, you know what I mean. If you’ve not heard it, give it a listen (here). But do me a favor and simply listen. Don’t actually watch the video. I want you to formulate an image of the singer in your mind before you see her. Then have a look-see at Meghan Trainor. When I finally saw her, I was surprised as all get out. In a most lovely way.
And if the music video isn’t enough, picture this: when Mister first played the song for me, he turned away, looked at me over his shoulder and said, “See – when she says Bass she’s talking about her booty.” All the while, he was pointing at his own ass with both hands.
That guy cracks me up.
