I’m in training. I’ll share the details next week, but for now, suffice it to say I’m trying to get my butt ready for a major event. (Well that’s not at all enticing…)

So I’m biking, hiking and walking. The other day found me walking and covering some mileage. At some point, I was on a bridge over a freeway and I snapped this pic. Later, when I was back at the hotel and looking at the photos I’d taken, I realized that freeway was moving at a pretty fast clip.

Living in L.A., one becomes accustomed to traffic. We don’t come to like it, mind you. But we know it’s a fact of life and we plan accordingly. (Well, most of us do anyway.) When people have visited me and witnessed our traffic, they’ve told me how they could never live here or drive on our roads. I usually tell them they’re crazy, and that they’d adjust. And most of the time, what they deem as traffic is nothing but a few cars. Only once have visitors been in the car with me and witnessed real traffic. Like, turn-off-the-engine-because-it’s-going-to-take-us-an-hour-to-go-3-miles kind of traffic.

Anyhoo, after I took the above phot0, I continued on my walk. I saw a lot of grand things that day, but none made me stand still like the vehicles on that freeway. And yes, that’s my tiny, little shadow in the bottom right corner. Kind of puts things in perspective.

Training continues…
