I’ve been so wrapped up in Rock Camp doings that I completely missed the passing of one of my faves, bassist Charlie Haden. (I’ll work on wrapping up Rock Camp posts over the next 2 days.)
I could go on and on about this recording or that. I could tell stories of life, entwined with his music. But I won’t. I will only encourage you to listen to his haunting version of “Wayfaring Stranger.” Though he rarely sang in his professional career, I’m terribly grateful he did. This song immediately came to mind when I learned of his passing. Listening to it now makes me so grateful to have Mr. Haden’s music in my life.
