I have a confession: I’m ever-so-slightly subject to OCD behavior.

I don’t always feel the compulsion to act, but when I sit down at a restaurant, the first thing I do is arrange all the various utensils, napkins and tableware before me. Right angles are the norm, but there is always one exception: something must be on a diagonal. All right angles would be nuts. That one item set at a diagonal is what makes the scene acceptable.

For the record, I don’t have the slightest inclination to adjust anyone else’s table-scape. I’m not crazy, y’all.

I don’t remember when I started doing this. If the habit goes away on its own some day, fine by me. Until then, I’m not hurting anyone so I’ll just go with it. Besides, it makes my immediate space pretty. And I like pretty.
