Floor work continues. Or rather, it will continue, as soon as the proper chemicals arrive for the next step: removing efflorescence.

 

For those unfamiliar with the word, efflorescence is the chalky look on the tiles, as shown above. It isn’t a big deal. In fact, it’s merely the tiles’ naturally occurring salt, risen to the surface. I’m not too keen on that white salt showing through the stain I plan to apply, so Mister did some research and tracked down a lovely chemical that causes the salt to sink back down into the tile, rendering it virtually unseen. Magic!

 

Once the chemicals arrive, I’ll be able to swab the decks with the goop and begin staining a few days after. I won’t lie – I’m pretty excited to move forward.

 

Actually, I’m pretty excited to get the danged project done. I mean, I’ve only got about a jillion other projects waiting in line…
