This is a photo of my great-grandparents, Vera and Gene. Granny Vera gave it to me the last time I saw her, before she died. I can’t begin to tell you how much I cherish this pic.

I never knew the young people in this photograph, as they were older when I was born. But that doesn’t matter. I love them just the same. And when I look at their faces, I can’t help but smile. And remember running around their yard with sparklers, trying to outpace the mosquitoes. I remember lightning bugs and screen-door slams. I remember lying in the grass and looking up at the stars.

Whether you are somewhere in the good old U.S.A. or not, I hope today finds you well. Maybe you’ll even carve out a little space to remember something beautiful from your childhood. I did, and I couldn’t be happier.
