A while back I shared my very good intentions of painting clouds on the ceiling of a bathroom at the new pad.

I tried. 4 times, in fact. I consulted and researched, but no matter what I did, those clouds simply weren’t working out, y’all.

For the record, when I paint on canvas, it is with oil paints. And oil paint is very kind. It takes forever to dry and therefore allows the painter to move it around, blend it, take it off – whatever. I like painting with oils. I love it even! Really, I should marry it.

I do not like painting with latex paint, however. It drives me crazy! It dries, almost before it leaves the brush, and therefore there’s no easy way to blend it. There’s no moving it around. And forget taking it off. You pretty much have to paint over it to change its appearance.

In the end, I opted for a no-cloud ceiling. Mister said I was giving up. Maybe. But he wasn’t the one who tried 4 different times, with 4 different approaches. And he wasn’t the one who failed 4 times, never even coming close to achieving the desired effect. (I also decided that with a large metal locker and various art on the walls – the room would be more than busy enough, and clouds would be just too much.) The simple blue ceiling is lovely against the crisp white walls. The room turned out swell. I’m super-happy with it, and now that it’s checked off, it’s time to move on to whatever project decides it wants to be next…
